Flood Related Business Rate Queries
You could be eligible for three months business rate relief due to flooding if the following applies for any day between 1 December 2013 and 31 March 2014:-
- The rateable property has been flooded in whole or in part as a result of adverse weather conditions; and
- On that day, as a result of the flooding at the rateable property the business activity undertaken at the rateable property was adversely affected; and
- The rateable value of the rateable property on that day was less than £10m

'Repair and Renew' flood defence grant
Residential and business properties which suffered flooding of habitable or business critical areas in the recent flood event (between 01/12/13 and 31/3/14) are eligible for a grant of up to £5,000 for flood resilience and flood resistance measures. These measures are intended to either prevent future flooding or minimise the damage caused by a flood.
The Council will be in discussion with residents and businesses to establish what measures will be appropriate and if community applications will be most effective. We will then discuss the application process with you, with support available if required to organise the works.
