Scores on the Doors

Worcester City Council, in conjunction with other local Authorities within Worcestershire and Herefordshire have launched 'Scores on the Doors' - a new system whereby food businesses including restaurants, pubs, takeaways etc. will be graded from 0 to 5 stars, following a food hygiene inspection from our Environmental Health teams.

Businesses will be awarded a star rating based on the food hygiene standards identified at the time of the food hygiene inspection - and the results will be available for potential customers to view on the Internet at http://www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk/

They will also be supplied with a certificate for them to display, hence the tagline 'Scores on the Doors'.

5 Stars

The star rating will vary from 5 stars for businesses who have achieved an excellent standard, to 0 stars where major improvements are clearly required.

Inspections of food businesses carried out since 1 August 2007 by the Council’s Food Team will be published at www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk  The score given at the most recent inspection will form the star rating.

Businesses will be judged on their compliance with the law in the following areas:

  • Food hygiene practices
  • Structural requirements for the premises
  • Confidence in management of the business.

The score bands for the number of stars given will be as follows:
