Three new ‘Swingo’ street cleaners delivered to Guildhall
As part of the daily battle to keep Worcester clean, Worcester City Council is took delivery of three new compact street sweepers. The ‘Swingo’ machines manufactured by Aebi Schmidt are able to collect up to two cubic metres of waste before they need emptying, which means they can operate further away from the main depot and for longer than existing equipment owned by the council.
Worcester City Council took delivery of three new ‘Swingo’ compact street sweepers on Friday 23rd July outsite the Guildhall at 10am.
Councillor Roger Knight, Portfolio Holder for Cleaner and Greener City, said: “I am delighted that we are able to continue to modernise Worcester City Council’s fleet of cleansing vehicles. We need to have highly reliable sweepers to cope with the increasing volume of litter, which has to be dealt with seven days a week.”
Taking delivery of the new vehicles on are: the Mayor of Worcester, Cllr Mike Layland; portfolio holder for Cleaner and Greener, Cllr Roger Knight; head of Cleaner and Greener, Mike Harrison; Malcolm Cox, operations manager and John Wilkinson, transport consultant.
Worcester City Council is currently running ‘Take Pride in Worcester’ in partnership with the Worcester News and Visit Worcester – a campaign to encourage local people ad visitors to take pride in the city and work together to reduce litter and improve Worcester’s overall appearance
