City Council and Fire Service join forces with City’s diverse groups to improve public services
Worcester City Council and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have joined forces with local voluntary and community groups to ensure their services are fair to all Worcester residents. A new Equality Engagement Forum has been set up that allows representatives of religious community groups, disability charities and other voluntary organisations to comment on the way the Council and the Fire Service work.
The recent launch of the Forum at the Guildhall was a massive success, attracting over 50 delegates, and was addressed by Councillor Lucy Hodgson, the council’s Cabinet Member for Customer Care and Citizen Engagement. She commented:
"It’s vital that we in the public sector understand the diverse needs of our communities. This Equality Engagement Forum will help us do just that and give local representatives another means of getting involved in improving public services."
The first Forum meeting will be held in the week commencing the 15th March and will look at issues surrounding communication and planning. Further information on the Forum is available from Deb Fletcher, Equalities Officer, at
