Gheluvelt Park event to remember young Worcester hero

The life of a young and very brave soldier from Worcester will be celebrated at a special family day in the Gheluvelt Park on Saturday 17th October. Friends and family of Pte Jason Williams, who died in Helmand province on August 8 while trying to retrieve the body of a fallen Afghan comrade, are hosting the charity fundraising event.

Live music, food, ice creams, a merry go round, bouncy castle and lots of children’s activities will be on offer at the event - all our welcome (Saturday 17th October:  11am to 4pm).  Fire, ambulance and police officers will also be in attendance, along with British Army representatives, who will be demonstrating fitness activities.  Mayor of Worcester Cllr Andy Roberts will also be present.

Pte Williams was 23 when he died whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion Mercian Regiment.

Sunnyside Road, Barbourne, Worcester.
