Bramble Bash! at Cherry Orchard

When: Saturday 18 February 10:00 – 13:00
Where: Cherry Orchard Local Nature Reserve, Diglis
Cost: FREE

Join the Friends of Diglis Fields and our Community Engagement Team to keep bramble and scrub in check, protecting this habitat for slow worms and other wildlife. The task will involve cutting bramble and small trees with hand tools, and burning the cut material. No experience needed, tools, gloves and refreshments provided! Meet at the St Mark’s Close entrance.

Worcester Canal Group Litter picks 2017

When: Last Saturday of each Month, 10:30 – 12:00, 28 January, 25 February, 25 March
Where: Meet in Lansdowne Park off Lansdowne Road
Cost: Free

Join the Worcester Canal Group volunteers for our regular litter pick along the canal towpath, covering the canal between locks 4 and 5. All equipment is provided, although please wear suitable clothes. Afterwards some of us have a drink in The Chestnut Inn.

Couch to 5K Running Programme

When: Mondays 30 January – 27 March, 9:30 – 10:30
Where: Gheluvelt Park, meet by the tennis courts
Cost: £20 for the full 9 weeks, payable at the first session you attend

Swanning About at Half Term

When: Thursday 23rd February, 10am to 12noon
Where: Pump House Environment Centre, Gheluvelt Park
Cost: Free

Join us in Gheluvelt Park to meet Marilyn from the Swan Food Project in Worcester. Find out about how swans grow and feed, craft your own swan and design a poster for the park.

Please bring a toilet roll for crafting and wear weather appropriate clothing as we’ll be spending time outside.

Half-term Multi-sports Activities

When: Friday 24 February, 11:30 – 13:00
Where: Cripplegate Park. Also 20 – 24 February in various locations – see poster for details.
Cost: FREE

Freedom Leisure’s Sport, Art and Play Development Team will be working with the Albion Foundation to provide a week of completely FREE multi-sports at 11 different venues across Worcester City.

Multi-sports activities will include cricket, tennis, football and much more for 2-18 year olds. All you need to do is turn up, sign in and take part. Parental consent needed for under 16’s.

Worcester Parks Tennis League

When: Thursday 2 March to Wednesday 26 April (registration deadline 27 February)
Where: Any suitable court - Courts in Gheluvelt and Cripplegate Parks can be used for free.
Cost: Registration £15

Friendly competitive tennis If you are keen to keep playing tennis and would like to meet new people to play, the next round of the Worcester Parks Tennis League runs from Thursday 2 March to Wednesday 26 April 2017. Open to men and women of all standards aged 18 and over, it's a great way to have some competitive fun.

Players are organised into groups of a similar level and arrange a mutually convenient time to play. Any court that suits both players can be used, and don't forget, all the park courts are free! Why not give it a go!

Outdoor Small Group Personal Training

When: January – March 2017 (further dates TBC), Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays 9:30 – 10:30, Wednesdays 18:30 – 19:30

Fort Royal and Commandery Healthy Walk

Where: Meet in the Commandery Shop
Walk Length: Walks will vary each week averaging 1 hour but always start and finish at the Commandery.

Enjoy a walk through some of the City's green spaces and enjoy a well earned cuppa at the end. Everyone welcome!

Friends of Warndon Villages – Volunteer days

When: Fourth Tuesday of each month 10:30 – 13:00

Where: New volunteers meet at 10am at Lyppard Hub, Warndon Villages.
Cost: FREE!

The Friends of Warndon Villages Group are venturing into new and exciting projects to completely overhaul selected green spaces in Warndon Villages. This will includes a range of practical tasks as identified by the group. All tools and equipment provided, just bring appropriate clothing and boots.

Drinks and biscuits for all willing volunteers!

No need to book, just turn up on the day.

Swan Sanctuary Working Parties

When: Third Wednesday of the month, 10:00 – 12:30
21 September, 19 October, 16 November
Where: Meet at the north end of Bromwich Parade, near the main road bridge.
Cost: FREE

Join Swan Food Project volunteers to help with various practical tasks to help the swans and other wildlife. Tasks could include cleaning and weeding the bridge steps and boathouse steps, trimming shrubs to give swans safer and easier access to the river. Those who wish to can stay after coffee to help with the swan feeding at 12:30, which would take about 30 minutes. Tools provided.

Fort Royal Gardening Group

When: First Thursday of the month, 10:00 – 12:30
Where: Fort Royal Park & Commandery Gardens
Cost: FREE

Join the Park Keeper and a friendly group of volunteers to look after the Commandery Gardens and Fort Royal Park. Share skills and knowledge with like-minded people while carrying out tasks such as weeding, sowing, planting vegetables and bedding plants, followed by a cup of tea. No experience needed, tools and gloves provided, please wear sturdy footwear and outdoor clothes. Meet in the Commandery Shop.

Friends of St. Peter’s Parks - Volunteer Days

When: First Thursday of every Month, 10:30 – 13:30
Where: Various locations within St. Peters Parish
Cost: FREE

The Parish of St Peter's wants to enhance the use of its many open spaces. Volunteer days are held on the first Thursday of every month. The work is a mix of seasonal practical work and community engagement projects. Tools and gloves provided, please wear suitable clothes for the weather and sturdy footwear. Drinks are provided but don't forget your lunch!

Kids Run Free

When: First Saturday of each month, 8:45 – 10:00

Where: King George V Playing Fields (Brickfields Park)
Cost: FREE

Kids Run Free is a charity which organises regular running events for children aged 0-16. Their mission is to support children to realise their potential through sport, helping them to become happier, healthier and more confident. The events are based on personal achievement rather than competition.

Trotshill Orchard Group – Volunteer days

The Trotshill Orchard Group continues to successfully manage and enhance a stunning Fruit Tree Orchard located on Trotshill Lane East in Warndon Villages.
