Friends of St Peter’s Parks - Ancient hedgerow restoration

When: Thursday 3rd November 10:30am
Where: meet at the play park off Battenhall Rise in Battenhall Park.
Cost: FREE

Criss-crossing the countryside, hedgerows divide farmland and landscapes. The hedge in Battenhall Park was used as a barrier to prevent livestock from escaping from the fields. Though most of it has been removed, you can still see the line it took, most noticeably by the large oaks in the park. The 90m of hedge that remains needs help! It has become gappy and scrubbed hedgerow, losing some of its value to wildlife. Today we’ll work towards restoring this hedge to health.
