A Customer Advisor is required to work at St. Johns Sports Centre

Total average of 16 hours per week

Hours as per 2 week rota

Week 1 – Tue, Wed & Thu 5 – 9pm
Week 2 – Mon, Tue & Wed 5 – 9pm & Sat 10am – 6pm

The Role
Working in the Strategic Housing Service, the Housing Advice Team require staff as identified below:

Housing Needs & Advice Officer (f/t)
Grade 6 salary range £20,858 - £22,958
The role of the Housing Needs and Advice Officer is to prevent homelessness, and where this is not possible investigate homelessness in line with the Homelessness Act 2002. This includes advising people about their housing rights, the housing waiting list, about how to secure various types of accommodation for themselves, and the homelessness application and temporary accommodation processes.

This is a pressurised and often emotionally demanding environment and so applicants to all the posts available will need to be organised, sympathetic (whilst also realising the constraints of the local housing market) and ideally have previous experience of a customer service role and working with vulnerable households. Knowledge of the Homelessness Act 2002, working with homeless households and private sector tenancy law would be advantageous.

Senior Housing Needs & Advice Officer (f/t)

The postholder will support the Housing Needs and Advice Teamleader to oversee the delivery of a range of services to those who are threatened with or actually homeless, including providing comprehensive homeless prevention advice, undertaking homelessness assessments and reviews when necessary and dealing with complex cases involving a range of partners. The postholder will also work with the Private Sector and Accommodation Team to ensure that homeless households are accommodated in suitable temporary and permanent accommodation in a cost effective way.

This is a pressurised and often emotionally demanding environment and so applicants will need to be organised, sympathetic (whilst also realising the constraints of the local housing market) and ideally have previous experience of a customer service role and working with vulnerable households. Knowledge of the Homelessness Act 2002, working with homeless households and private sector tenancy law would be advantageous.

It is desirable that applicants have a relevant housing qualification or can demonstrate relevant experience in the housing field.

To provide an effective frontline housing advice, guidance and support service to help prevent the incidence of homelessness, assisting applicants to explore a full range of housing options available to them. To also provide operational support to deliver the choice based letting scheme and provide advice and information to customers to ensure they register their application accurately and successfully.
