Discretionary Lockdown Support Grants

The Discretionary Lockdown Support Grant is for those businesses which are not eligible under the Government’s Local Restrictions Support Grant (CLOSED) scheme but have been affected by the national lockdown and continue to face loss of business as a result.

All relevant businesses that are not required to close but have faced loss of business as a result of Covid-19 should apply here. . Please read the guidance setting out the details of these schemes.

Businesses and organisations are eligible to apply if they:

  • were trading on 5 January 2021
  • are of any size, subject to the amount of the grant not exceeding state aid rules, including any temporary lifting of restrictions - this includes limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, charities and community interest companies
  • occupy rateable or non-rateable property.

Eligible businesses may receive more than one grant if they can demonstrate that they trade from separate premises, e.g. separate business rates accounts or rental agreements for each premises. In these instances, the grant amount may be adjusted to reflect the number of days/week occupied at each premises. A separate application is required for each premises occupied.

The amounts of grant payable will include a six-week grant to the same value as the national lockdown support grants except where the business is not a ratepayer, in which case the amount of grant will be based on turnover for the previous full financial year, as follows:
