& Her Majesty The Queen Consort
People across the country and the Commonwealth are invited to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort over a weekend of special events on 6–8 May 2023.
Saturday 6 May
The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The Ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside The Queen Consort.
Worcester will be celebrating too – in partnership with BID we’ll be decorating the Guildhall and city centre with colourful bunting and encouraging local shops and businesses to decorate their windows.
The Coronation will be shown on a big screen in Cathedral Square.
Sunday 7 May
As part of the celebrations, Sunday May 7 will see the ‘Coronation Big Lunch’ held at venues across the country. Mayor of Worcester, Cllr Adrian Gregson will be hosting a Big Lunch in the Guildhall. Charity and volunteering organisations and groups from across Worcester are invited to nominate people to attend. Nominations must be received by 12noon on Friday April 7.
Monday 8 May

Street parties
As well as the official events, residents are encouraged to hold their own celebrations to mark the occasion such as street parties and coronation lunches.
Worcester City Council will cover the cost of road closures for street parties and erect diversion signs where necessary. Please note that the deadline for Coronation event applications and road closure requests is Sunday April 16.

The Coronation Big Lunch
The Coronation Big Lunch is expected to bring millions together over the Bank Holiday weekend, but you can also hold your Big Lunch anytime in June, throughout the Month of Community.
