The aim of Sportivate is to encourage lifelong participation in sport through innovative and inspiring programmes. They are designed especially for young people and adults who would like to get involved in a new local sport or physical activity.

Water Sport

Freedom Leisure’s Sport, Art & Play Development Team aim to get over 1000 11-25 year olds involved in local Sportivate programmes such as Parkour, Boxing, Capoeira, Badminton, Athletics, Water Sports and Table Tennis.

We ensure that local people are involved in the process of forming our Sportivate programmes by asking them for feedback. This consultation is done to help design fun, inspiring and innovative sporting programmes, delivered by local clubs and partners.

The Sportivate programme funded through the National Lottery and Sport England is currently in its fifth year. The programme aims to engage children and young adults (aged 11 - 25) to receive 6 - 8 weeks of coaching in a sport of their choice. Nationally, Sportivate aims for 300,000 young people to take part in the programme and inspire over 120,000 to carry on playing sport regularly.

Sportivate aims to capture the inspiration and excitement of the London 2012 Olympic Games to benefit the lives of thousands of young people through sport and is part of the 'Places, People, Play' mass participation legacy programme introduced by Sport England.

The Sport Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire will receive £81,000 from Sport England each year of the Sportivate programme. Working closely with Local Authorities, the aim is to encourage 5912 participants onto the Sportivate programme, retaining 3544 and sustaining 1412 teenagers and adults in sporting activities across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Within Worcester City, Freedom Leisure aim to strengthen and support their partnerships which involve those with; clubs, coaches, volunteers, schools, colleges, universities, local businesses and wider community groups. We aim to work with National Governing Bodies to ensure exit routes into sport specific clubs are as strong as possible, providing as many new opportunities for all Sportivate participants.
