Published: 08 September 2025

The Mayor of Worcester has paid a tribute to Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent, following her death on Friday.

Councillor Dr Matt Lamb said: “On behalf of the people of Worcester, I wish to express our deepest condolences to His Majesty The King and all members of the Royal Family following the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent.

“Her Royal Highness will be remembered with great affection for her compassion, humility, and lifelong dedication to public service.

“She gave so much of her time and energy to charitable work, particularly in the fields of music and education, and inspired generations through her support of young people. Her quiet strength and humanity, whether seen at national occasions or in her personal commitments, have left a lasting impression on the country.

“At this time of national mourning, Worcester joins communities across the United Kingdom in paying tribute to a life of service and kindness.

“The thoughts of everyone in our city are with the Duke of Kent, their family, and all who mourn her loss.”
