Driver Licensing
You will need a licence from us if you want to be able to drive a hackney carriage or private hire vehicles.
We have adopted policies and procedures for the licensing of hackney carriage and private hire drivers. It is very important that you read these before making an application for a driver's licence. They are included in the Council's Taxi Policy which can be downloaded here:

Applying for a licence
Applications must be submitted with all required documents as described in the Council’s Taxi Policy and proof that the fee has been paid. You can submit your application by email to
